Introduction
Background
As part of my Google Certificate Course, I was required to create a concert merchandising app. I decided to create an application to help loyal customers get priority to merchandise by The Weeknd.
The Problem
Fans not being able to purchase products because they are sold out, expensive or delays with products arriving on time.
The Goal
To create an application that will provide exclusive access to members so they may purchase items before they become sold out, payment plans to help purchase expensive products, and fast shipping.
Research
Understanding the User
User research was conducted by creating personas and user stories to anticipate problems users may face. Informal interviews were conducted with 5 subjects on what problems users face when purchasing concert merchandise through an application. Some of the assumptions that I had were creating a process where more products were available to purchase. I believed this would make users happier but they appreciate the exclusivity of having a product that is scarce. This motivated me to create a different method for music lovers to gain access to their favorite artists merchandise while still maintaining the scarcity and exclusivity of the product.
Persona's
Pain Points
Product Availability
This application will provide exclusive access to members so they may purchase products before they are sold out.
Expensive Pricing
There will be a payment plan option during the purchasing process to help users pay for the merchandising products.
Shipping Speed
Users will be given next day shipping with lighting shipping speeds so they receive their products immediately.
Design
Paper Wireframes
When creating the paper wireframes I played with different screen styles to see which would be the most efficient and pleasing to the user. You can see that the final version on the right is made up of various parts of the draft designs.
Outline of Process
The goal for this application was not to reinvent the purchasing process but making it easier for fans of The Weeknd to purchase merchandise. I included an exclusive login for users with accounts to access limited edition merchandise, a payment plan option at check out and automatic fast shipping to meet the users needs.

Usability Studies
When the first round of studies were conducted the users were able to complete the checkout process easily but there were problems finding products using the exclusive tab. I updated the application with various routes to reach the product page and made the exclusive page easier to navigate.

Conclusion
Insight
The changes made with the use of icons, status bar and login page helped users easily maneuver through the application. The login page and change of background color really gave the user feel a sense of exclusivity.
What I learned
I learned how various people interact with design and being able to design an application that is accessible to everyone. This includes adding icons, specific color choices, sizing and spacing. Being able to apply these elements to my application made it easier for users to navigate.
